Product reviews, written from the specification sheet
Novice Links is a network of thirteen review sites, one product category each. Every review on every site is written from what the manufacturer publishes about the product — and every review says so, because nobody here has used the product.
A listing gives you a capacity, a wattage, a decibel figure, a set of dimensions and a paragraph of adjectives, and leaves you to work out which of it matters. The sites here take one product at a time and read those figures for what they imply for the home it is going into: whether 3.5 cubic feet is a week of shopping or a month, whether 50 decibels is a hum or a conversation, whether a "two-year battery" survives a busy driveway. That reading is the review. It is not a test, and it is never presented as one.
The sites
Each site owns one category, with its own reviews, its own editor and its own contact address. They are separate because their specifications are not comparable: nothing useful is shared between a freezer's defrost cycle and a printer's pages per minute.

What a review here is
A reading of the manufacturer's own figures against the questions a buyer in that category actually has. The figures are restated with their conditions, because a battery-hours figure at a stated brightness and a range figure at a stated load are not the same kind of claim as a bare number. Where the listing does not state something, the review says not stated rather than guessing.
What we do not do
We do not buy, unbox, set up, run, wear, sleep on, cook on or otherwise use the products. There is no lab and no sample cupboard. What we have is a method for reading a specification honestly, applied the same way to every product on every site, and written down where it fails. The methodology page sets it out.
How this is paid for
Every site in the network earns a commission on qualifying purchases made through its links to Amazon. That pays for the work; it does not decide what a review says. There is no sponsored placement anywhere in the network. The full disclosure is here.
